Governments and Government Agencies fulfil important roles in the development. As the development of the technologies and system solutions of e-mobility are at early stages in their development, they are not yet competitive against fossil fuel technologies. Large amounts of research and development, in addition to large scale investments in the implementation of the new products and systems remain and governments are the only bodies that can muster very large investments with an uncertain time-frame for payback.
